Panelists:

Navyn Salem, Founder & CEO, Edesia Nutrition

In 2009 Navyn set out to help end the crisis of global malnutrition by founding Edesia, a U.S. non-profit, social enterprise, with a mission to treat and prevent malnutrition in developing countries worldwide. Since 2010, Edesia has reached over 15 million children in 60+ countries, including Somalia, Venezuela, Yemen and Syria. In 2020, she expanded her mission to include addressing hunger in the United States and works with the USDA in providing food for their COVID-19 emergency response efforts for both school lunch programs and food banks. In 2021, she partnered with Chobani to launch Chobani Ends Hunger, a new line of super peanut blends in retailers nationwide. 100% of profits are donated to Edesia to help further the mission.

Daryl Davis, Race Reconciliator

After one of Daryl's Rock'n'Roll/Boogie Woogie performances, a man told it was the first time he’d seen a Black man play piano like Jerry Lee Lewis. Daryl explained the Black origin of Lewis's style and the man became a fan. Turns out, he was a member of the Ku Klux Klan. This led to Daryl becoming the first Black author to interview KKK leaders and members, detailed in his highly acclaimed book, Klan-Destine Relationships. Today, Daryl owns numerous Klan robes and hoods, given to him by active members who renounced their racist ideology after meeting him. His book, The Klan Whisperer, is due out in 2021.

Amy Leneker, Leadership Consultant & Certified Dare To Lead Facilitator

Amy is an optimistic, joy-seeking, recovering perfectionist. She is also a Leadership Consultant and a Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator. Amy was born and raised in the Midwest where she learned to work hard, tell the truth, and be kind. Although she left Ohio long ago, those Midwestern values are still very much a part of who she is and how she works. As a Certified Trainer, Amy has trained thousands of leaders and teams all over the world. She and her husband have two wonderful kiddos and three wacky dogs and make their home in the Pacific Northwest.

Why Hope?

“The present is the ever moving shadow that divides yesterday from tomorrow. In that lies hope.” -Frank Lloyd Wright

Described as the one area in which higher level leaders can have the most influence in their organization, according to Gallup research, HOPE gives people something to look forward to, which is particularly critical in our most difficult times.

Hear from Discussions That Matter panelists who took the initiative to save millions of children around the world, turn the most hardened men and women away from hate for a more peaceful and compassionate society, and challenge and train thousands of leaders and teams to dare to lead.

This session, our second to last of 2021, includes panelists who live right in our backyards, but whose actions create impact around the globe. Don’t miss your opportunity to learn about hope from our expert practitioners and your fellow alumni. Don’t miss your opportunity to be inspired to raise hope for others.
